Personal
I believe that our experience begins with learning about ourselves. So
learning about how I experience myself emotionally, behaviourly and physically, informs me as well as my work with others.
My personal and professional development has helped to support
my own growth. As I work with my own issues and personal milestones that I have achieved and with those
I continue to endevour to achieve.
Transition
My decision to become a therapist was not a rash one, it
evolved over years. I knew from my own experience that psychotherapy had helped me when I sought support for
myself at a very low period in my life. In time, this therapeutic connection evolved into personal development
as I grew more interested in my own processes, and ultimately in the profession.
In 1994 I "dipped my toe in the water" by starting an evening 'Counselling
Skills Course' to see how I felt about it (and I loved it!), I ended my IT Career in 1995 as I began training as
a psychotherapist.
Professional - Psychotherapy
I have practiced as a psychotherapist for over twelve
years having started as a volunteer counsellor for a youth agency in Maidenhead. In 1998, I established my
initial private practice at the Healthy Living Centre, in Islington, London - an holistic centre offering many
disciplines including Reiki, Accupunture and Massage.
A year later, in 1999, I expanded my private practice by setting up locally
in Iver, Buckinghamshire and in 2000 I also began working as a practice counsellor for the GP surgery.
Since 2001 I also have a small private practice at Alma Road in Windsor, Berkshire.
In 2003 I ended working in London and briefly worked in Datchet, before
I took a part-time position as a trust bereavement, loss and trauma counsellor in the local NHS hospital trust in 2005.
Today my work consists of my private practices in Iver and Windsor
and both NHS primary and secondary care counselling.
Professional - Information Technology (IT)
My working life has always involved working with people, as
a team member and later on as middle management. As my IT career progressed I found the people
element more interesting than the technology. Having spent some time considering what I wanted and where
my interests lay, I decided to end my career here and move into the field of psychotherapy.
